21. Multi batch, Slow and Fast, Multiple rejects

In this example

  • Shift time:                                       500 min
  • Production Run A:                         100 min
    •   Output 1                                    90 Good (Set Speed 1 pcs/min)
    •                                                       10 scrap
  • Production Run B:                         10 min
    •   Output 3                                     6000 (Set Speed 1000 pcs/min)
    •                                                        4000 scrap
  • Break:                                                390 min

Result

  1. Availability 22% (110min/500min)
  2. Performance: 100
  3. Quality: 87,27% (Weighted average!!)
  4. OEE = 22% x 100% x 87,27% = 19,2%

Calculation Performance

  1. The performance of each product in a run is calculated:

First run:

  • (90 good + 10 S) /100 max = 100%

Second run:

  • (6000 good + 4000 S)/10.000 max = 100%
  • The weighted average performance for the different runs is 100%
    • 100 minutes at 100% and
    • 10 minutes at 100%: = 100% performance

2. The weighted average performance for the different runs is 100%

  • 100 minutes at 100% and
  • 10 minutes at 100%: = 100% performance

Calculation Quality

  1. The quality of each product in a run is calculated:

First run:

  • 90 Good/ (90 Good + 10 Rejects) = 90%

Second run:

  • 6000 Good /(6000 Good + 5000 Rejects) = 60%

2. A weighted average is calculated for the different runs

  • 100 minutes at 90% and
  • 10 minutes at 60% = 87,27%

Warning:

Also the quality rate is a weighted average! Just adding all good outputs and dividing this by all actual outputs does not give a correct quality rate!
