2. Configure Machine – Team template

Table of Contents

Connecting an actual MACHINE & TEAM to a generic shift plan

From the generic Shift-Template in step 1, we will now make a more specific template where a generic shift template (e.g. ‘2 Shifts’) is tied to a specific machine and the actual teams that will operate this machine in the predefined shifts.

Since the combination between a shiftplan (e.g. ‘2-shift operation’), a specific machine and a (series of) team(s) normally is recurring, we allow to make another -more specific- template to be reused in the actual calendar.

Make a new Machine-Team template

Select [Configure Machine – Team templates]

Press [Add a Template] to create a new Machine-Team template

A new template is created which you may want to give meaningful name:

  • Now select the generic shift template that will be applicable with this machine: e.g. a two-shift operation.
  • Depending the amount of shifts in the plan, you will be asked to assign the teams that will perform these shifts. The system will ask for two teams in a two shift operation.
  • Normally only ONE machine will be operated in this schedule. Select the machine form the available machines.
  • In case you do not see the machine (or teams) you would like to select, check your userrights in OEE Coach; maybe these items are hidden from you.

From generic shift template to Machine Team template

Below we see a generic shifttemplate for a Three Shift Operation: Each week has

  • Night Shift
  • Early Shift
  • Late shift

These three shifts are operated by three teams. The teams rotate each week. Team 1 starts with the night shift, next week they do the early shift and the last week the late shift, after which they go into the night shift again.

After we created a machine-shift template, we apply the above three shift template to a specific machine: the Unifill in this case, and we populate the shifts at this machine with existing teams: ‘Abraham, Edwin and Jesse.’ (that was why we needed to assign team-placeholders to the generic shift template):

We now have a clear view how ‘Abraham, Edwin and Jesse’ will rotate through the night-late-early shifts on the Unifill. The only thing that is not done yet, is applying this schedule to actual dates in the calendar: that is the next step “Schedule Machines and Teams“.
