Updating OEE Coach Software
How to update automatically
OEE Coach can be set to update itself automatically.
It can use a FTP server or a network share as a source for new version.
OEE Coach will check for new version on each application start. If it detects new version, it will install new update.
If desired, auto-updating can be turned on in OEE Coach [System Preferences]. If a new OEE Coach version requires database structure modifications, a network administrator should manually upgrade the database to the new version, through the Database Tool application.
Updating OEE Coach – Automated Mode
Shared Folder Distribution of new versions
Create a local network shared folder, where OEECoach.exe setup will reside. Configure all clients in OEE Coach menu [System Preferences] to check this shared location for new version.
When a new version is being distributed proceed through the following steps:

1 | Make sure that OEE Coach software is not running on all client PC’s |
2 | Copy the new version of OEECoach.exe setup file to a shared location. |
3 | On an Administrators PC, which must have the DatabaseTool installed, run the OEE Coach setup software and install the new version |
4 | Start the OEE Coach application to see if a database upgrade is required. If yes, DatabaseTool is started automatically and you should proceed performing the database upgrade. Make sure to run a database backup first. You need to perform database upgrade only from one PC. |
5 | Now all clients can start the old version OEE Coach application. The old version of OEE Coach Application will on startup detect a new version (it will be looking in the local network shared folder) and will ask user to install it. If user accepts to install the new version, new version will be copied to temp folder and the upgrade process will be started. If user does not accept to install new version, OEE Coach will just close and will not allow to be run, until upgrade is completed. After the upgrade is completed, the user can run the OEE Coach software. |
By default, updating would be done manually.
How to update OEE Coach – Manually (non-automated mode)
When a new version is being distributed, proceed through the following steps
Step | Action |
1 | Make sure that OEE Coach software is not running on all client PC’s |
2 | Install OEE Coach software on each client PC. |
3 | On a PC which has the DatabaseTool installed, start the OEE Coach application to see if a database upgrade is required. If yes, run DatabaseTool and perform database upgrade. Make sure to run a database backup first.You need to perform database upgrade only from one PC. |
4 | After the upgrade is completed, the users can start the OEE Coach software. |
Upgrading OEE Coach Database
When to do this?
- During some upgrades, database modifications have been made in order to facilitatate a new feature.
- After installing such new version, the software will check whether your current database matches the new version.
- If not, it will give the user a message there is a mismatch.
- The database-administrator can now upgrade the current database to the newly installed software version.
Steps to perform
- Start Databasetool
- Press NEXT
- Enter SQL-server details to access the current database
(the data shown below are just examples)
- Choose [Upgrade Database]
- Choose “Upgrade to latest version” and press “Next”
- Choose [Upgrade Database]
- Choose “Upgrade to latest version” and press “Next”
- Follow the screen instructions for next steps.
- Start your newly installed OEE Coach: it should now work flawlessly
