What happens when time is being changed
What happens when time is being changed
If you change the start time of the next activity, the duration of the previous activity will automatically be adapted.
Example: If the first activity started at 6:00 and lasted 65 min, and you change the start time of the next activity from 7:05 to 6:45, the duration if the first activity will become 45 min.
The system assumes you will register from begin of the shift until the end.
The activities will appear sequentially as they happened.
When manually entering the activities retrospective, you may enter the duration and the system automatically will assign the right starting time to the next activity.
Example:
- Activity A start 7:00 Duration 30 min
- Activity B will have automatically as start time: 7:30
If you enter a new activity with its starting time, the duration of the previous activity is calculated and assigned.
Example:
- Activity A start 7:00 Duration 0 min
- Activity B start 7:30 -> Duration of activity A will become automatically 30 min
The duration of an activity can be entered manually; however, there is also a timer function available that calculates the elapsed time for you. The automatic timer, using a sensor, follows the same behavior. This function is discussed separately.
Changing the start time of an activity
When you change the start time of an activity within a calculation, several scenarios may occur:
- The new time is still between the start time of the previous and next activity. This will not change the position of the activity in the list.
Example:
- Previous activity starts at 09:00AM
- Current activity start was 10:00AM
- Next activity starts at 11:00AM
- Any new start time for current activity between 09:00AM-11:00AM, will not reposition the activity.
- In this scenario, the duration of the previous and current activity will be adapted automatically
- The new time is outside the start time of the previous and next activity. This will change the position of the current in the list.
Example:
- Previous activity starts at 09:00AM
- Current activity start was 10:00AM
- Next activity starts at 11:00AM
- Any new value for current activity that is before 09:00AM will reposition the activity up in the list.
- This will change the start time (and duration) for several activities:
- Previous activity before the reposition will get new duration, based on start time of the (new) next activity;
- after repositioning, the previous activity (looking from the new place it is in) will make place for newly inserted activity.
- Any new value for current activity that is after 11:00AM will reposition the activity down in the list.
- This will change the start time (and duration) for several activities:
- Previous activity before the reposition will get duration, based on start time of the newly entered activity;
- After repositioning, the previous activity (looking from the new place it is in) will make place for newly inserted activity;
- The moved activity will get new duration, from start time of this activity till start time of next activity
